Separation Deception

Everyone has a pet peeve, something that hits home in a way that nothing else quite does. Those who know me will tell you that mine is the so called "Separation of church and state". I have a personal hatred for this topic because (as those who read this know) I am a christian but moreover I am a conservative Christian. My hatred of this is really two fold and I shall attempt to explain both reasons briefly here. The first reason is that this concept has been twisted so much it's hardly recognizable as what it was originally intended to be. The second is the fact that The people who's hands are doing the twisting are doing so fully aware of what there doing but choosing to look the other way.

Perhaps I should explain what the original intent of this idea was. What is now known as the "separation of church and state" began as one sentence in the First Amendment, it stated "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". If this statement seems a little to short to have been formed into perhaps the most crucial ideal of the courts today your not alone. The original intent of the sentence written above was to insure that what we were rebelling against (which was the king of england dictating how to worship) did not happen in the democratic society they had just founded.

It's ironic then that this same ideal which was meant to stop the oppression of religion is now being used to do just that. Thats why this frustrates me so much, to think that any imperialist judge can just make up laws as they go along is nothing short of frightening. I have decided to take a stand against this, and I hope you will to.

I agree to this point, the liberal judges forget the "free exercise" portion of it. Also, my new blog at http://austinpost.blogspot.com has changed. Now it is Austin Post's Political Analysis Page
